I know the rest of you probably don't get as excited about rain as I do but in drought afflicted California it is something to rejoice over. We are having our second wet winter in a row and I pray for many more to come. I love gray, cloudy skies and the rain is really coming down right now.
We've been having what is supposed to be the worst storm in ten years. Sadly, it destroyed our most beloved tree. The giant sequoias are something we take for granted and don't have to drive that far to see them. This particular tree is not in our area and I was never able to see it for myself but I am saddened by it all the same.
Now this is all that's left of it.
It had been topped before 1859 and it's exact age and height were unknown but being 33 feet in diameter it was one massive tree by anyone's standard.
