In the Mail

I received the loveliest journal from Kathleen in Australia on the occasion of my birthday. I feel especially humbled because I am more often on the receiving end than the giving end and though I have resolved to send out birthday cards I often fail.

I put a thank you note in the mail without delay and wished that my beloved snail mail could move at a faster pace. We snail mailers, I trust, can wait patiently for a reply. It is such gestures, the small gift, the kind note, the unexpected card that inspire me to do better, write more, and cultivate friendship through the written word.
