Reasons to Write: Connection

I have been thinking about the card I received from my friend Shari. You'll remember...it's this one:

Regarding it, I've been thinking about the idea of connection and the power of paper and ink to create an intersection between two different people's lives. It's remarkable to think about, really.

I've been reading more of Mary & Me: A Lasting Link Through Ink. The stories of friendships maintained through letters for years is truly inspiring...and enviable too! We all long for connection because we are hopelessly social creatures and do not thrive in isolation. How wonderful it is to send a letter knowing that another soul will read it, and put a little bit of themselves into a return letter to share with us. What a wonderful reason to keep writing those letters!

The book review and give away is coming up so stay tuned!
