The Conversation: Just a Quick Note

I am presently in the unique position of having to communicate by post so my eldest son. He has long since moved out of the house and lives and works some fifty miles away. Recently, his phone came to some tragic end or other and he is refusing to replace it. Mr. Duffy is concerned about him riding his motorcycle without a cell phone but I reminded him that he himself had done the very same once upon a time. So, twice this week I have messaged my son not through any means of instant communication but through the mail. First a letter, then a short note both saying essentially the same thing.

Come home. Love, Mom.

Now, he'd better come at the requested time else I shall feel quite put out. At the same time, I feel gratified by the necessity of communicating through the mail.
