A Most Beautiful Document

In honor of Independence Day I made a visit to the National Archives to view the Declaration of Independence. Sadly the image is not clear but what I can make out of the writing itself it is beautiful, and I admire such penmanship.  I also admire both the clarity and brevity of our founding documents. If only Congress could manage such things today instead of the 10,000 page legal tangles they like to crank out. I suspect they are written by lawyers for lawyers and the preservation of their profession. That, however, will not prevent the rest of us from enjoying our barbeques and fireworks.
