Victorian Letter Writing Etiquette

I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did. Whilst I appreciate old customs I admit to being glad that the culture has changed somewhat and that today we enjoy great freedom of expression in our choice of paper, ink, sealing wax, and other embellishments.

However, our freedom has a drawback in that we’ve exchanged elevated discourse for familiarity. I think perhaps my own ideal lay somewhere in between. When pushed to choose though, I’d rather have unfiltered honesty to sophisticated polish.  Regardless of personal style, I’ve valued every letter received regardless of white, thick paper or not. A beautiful body, after all, may conceal an impoverished soul. Enjoy the video.
