The Consolation of Letters
While Letter Matters was resting I continued to write letters during my hectic time. Yes, it was a challenge but it also provided quiet consolation when quiet was most needed. There is something comforting about receiving a letter when one is feeling over-stretched and spread too thin. A letter is somehow an echo of quiet and a memory of what ought to be (or of the way things used to be and I wish they still were). I appreciated sitting in silence with the ritual cup of tea to engage in silent conversation. I still do. It helps with balance. An introvert, I love reading and writing and letters join those elements with conversation. Writing letters is the art of keeping company in solitude.
